Recently my favorite blog, Soulemama posted that she was doing some sewing for her home… quick little projects that were a bit of instant gratification and necessary.
I had one of the projects in mind as well.
As you know, we sold our dishwasher and now all of our dishes are washed by hand.
I picked up a drying rack and mat at the local thrift store, but the mat was plastic and the water seemed to just sit and get a bit stagnant underneath the mat and just make a terrible mess.
I used some dish towels under there, still not good enough…
I ended up buying a mat at a kitchen outlet while in Pigeon Forge.
It was handy, but in all actuality I needed TWO!
So to the sewing machine I went…. and came up with this.
I took an old but still very absorbent towel, folded it equally into three sections so it would be nice and fluffy. I then sewed down the sides and then turned it inside out. I sewed up the open edge and embellished it with some pretty strips of vintage linens.
I think it turned out quite nicely.
Now when this one is in the wash…
This one can be used!
Hurrah!
And the BEST part is…. it didn’t cost me a penny. 🙂
