Each year I head up the campaign at our church for Operation Christmas Child. Each year it is a blessing, truly. I love this ministry.
We begin collecting items in July and every couple of weeks we list a couple of ideas in our church bulletin for people to bring in. Like… matchbox cars and small dolls, toothbrush and soap, crayons and pencils, etc. And then we pack up around the first and second Sunday in November. Our youth department gathers the items, and if money is given, we go and buy items to pack.
Packing day is always a lot of fun!
The shoeboxes are sent ALL over the world! It’s truly amazing. Sending gifts to children who would otherwise get nothing! We may not be that grateful for a hairbrush or a pack of new pencils… but there are children who don’t have the simple basic things that we often take for granted. Such an important reminder, for all of us.
If you have never taken part in Operation Christmas Child… check them out! Click the link on the left side of my blog. This week is collection week, so there is STILL time to pack a shoebox and make a difference for a child this Christmas!
