This year for Abram’s birthday, we had a pretty big to-do.
We had friends and family over and had a “manhood ceremony” for Abe. He turned 14 this year, and Shannon and our pastor, Brother Jonathan and several others came to encourage Abe to take these years as an opportunity to grow and become the man that God has called him to be. Not to be complacent and lazy, but to be diligent and strong as he grows.
So, in true Moma fashion, I asked him what type of birthday cake he wanted. He went back and forth for a while and finally asked, “Mom… would it be ok if I had birthday pie instead?”
I thought it was a fabulous idea! So birthday pie was born in our home!
Being that we had invited so many, I got busy on making MANY varieties!
Apple, chocolate, key lime, brown butter coconut, pumpkin, strawberry, caramel, you get the idea. 😉
A few men even took the opportunity to speak to Abe directly and give him a challenge.
It was a wonderful time and it brought a tear to my eye to see so many investing their hearts to come alongside and give charge to my young man.
Shannon picked out a special gift for Abe. The helmet of salvation. A replica of a Roman soldier helmet with his full name and a scripture reference and the words “Victory is sure”
Because with Christ, we are victorious.
What a blessing to witness.
